Itineraries

MEADOWS AND WATERFALLS

Day One

Transfer from Toulouse airport to the hotel in Luchon.

Day Two

A short 10 minute drive to Vallee du Lis. Ascend through woods into alpine meadows. Follow high valley taking lunch at a col giving terrific panoramic views.

Day Three

From the Hospice de France we will explore the beautiful Vallee de la Freche.

Day Four

Free day. A chance to explore Luchon at your leisure. Take a thermal bath and then relax in one of the pavement cafes to soak up the atmosphere, or take part in one of the local activities such as tandem paragliding, mountain biking, kayaking or rafting.

Day Five

From the village of Oo we will walk up through meadows and past ancient cabanes to gain a fantastic view point.

Day Six

A short drive over to Spain and the Plan de Nera from where we walk into a beautiful area of flowers and tarns.

Day Seven

A walk up to the Spanish border giving great views into the Val d Aran and a possible ascent of Entecada (2266m).

Day Eight

Transfer to Toulouse airport.

*All walks are weather dependent and consequently subject to change. Meadows and Waterfalls are gentle to moderate walks. Cost of activities on your free day are not included

 

CIRQUES AND VALLEYS

Day One

Transfer from Toulouse airport to hotel in Luchon.

Day Two

This walk from Val d'Astau will lead us into several valleys renowned for the show of flowers during the spring. Accompanied most of the way by mountain streams we have lunch by a picturesque tarn.

Day Three

From the Hospice de France we ascend the old trading route to the Port de Venasque where we get great views of the Maladeta massif. Possible ascent of nearby 2700m peak.

Day Four

Free day. A chance to explore Luchon at your leisure. Take a thermal bath and then relax in one of the pavement cafes to soak up the atmosphere, or take part in one of the local activities such as tandem paragliding, mountain biking, kayaking or rafting.

Day Five

Vallee du Lis is the starting point for this walk which takes us up to high isolated tarns and offers great views of the border summits.

Day Six

The Cirque de Glere a local classic with the possibility of bagging a nearby peak.

Day Seven

A short drive into Spain and the Plan de Nera is our starting point for a day amongst lakes and high cols.

Day Eight

Transfer to Toulouse airport.

*All walks are weather dependent and consequently subject to change. Cirques and Valleys involve moderate walking. Cost of activities on day off are not included.

 

PEAKS AND RIDGES

Day One

Transfer from Toulouse airport to hotel in Luchon.

Day Two

Orientation walk ascending into the mountains. A chance to discuss individual expectations for the week and organise ourselves for the following two-day mountain expedition.

Day Three

The walk starts from Val d'Astau and will take us up out of the forested valley floor and into grassy meadows giving superb views of the border summits and eventually into more rugged terrain as we near our overnight stop.

Day Four

Ascent of 3000m peak then descend to valley and return to hotel.

Day Five

Day off to relax in Luchon. An opportunity to explore the town, relax in the cafes, enjoy a Thermal Bath, or alternatively have a go at tandem paragliding, mountain biking, kayaking or rafting.

Day Six

From Vallee du Lis we ascend through beech woods and past secluded tarns to our overnight stop.

Day Seven

Ascent of 3000m peak then descend to valley and return to hotel.

Day Eight

Transfer to Toulouse airport.

*All walks are weather dependent and consequently subject to change. Accommodation will be either hut based or wild camping please state your preference at time of booking. Peaks and Ridges are moderate to strenuous walks with the possibility of easy scrambling to the summit. This can be discussed on day two. Cost of activities on day off not
included.
